A little about myself and my goal for this site.
Back ground
I got my first DJ decks when I was 12 years old and it’s has been non-stop ever since, I have been DJing in clubs for roughly 12 years which was during my time at university.
From young, I have always been around DJs and other people in the scene. My dad being a Dj himself and then my uncle being an MC plus owning his own sound equipment. Having a music-oriented family inspired my interest and passion for music and DJing further. this also exposed me to a lot of talk about the music industry allowed me to quickly became familiar with a lot of the equipment from early.
My start of learning to DJ was when I was around 12/13 years old. I was fortunate that my parents recognised my interest in djing from early and purchased the equipment for me to learn and practice. By the end of secondary school, I was recording my mixes on cassette tapes and giving them out to friends. I then moved into doing private parties for friends and family events by the time I was in college, this allowed me to build my confidence with playing in front of people.
When I got to university I was able to get in the party scene and start playing for uni events, this allowed me to network and make a name which created opportunities for me to play at various venues for different uni events all over the country.
Current
Since then I have played various clubs in England, taken up various bar gigs, invested in my own sound equipment to play at private birthdays and weddings. I created my own brand and started a promotion to put on my own events.
I am an open format DJ which means I am comfortable playing various genres. However I would say that I am more comfortable playing urban genres such as R&B, Dancehall, Soca and Reggaeton as these are the genres I listen to
Goals
With this blog site, I want to help educate and guide new and upcoming DJs into the industry, I plan to give experienced advice on all aspects of DJing including skills, hardware and software.
